Complete Chloroplast Genomes and Phylogenetic Relationships of Bougainvillea spectabilis and Bougainvillea glabra (Nyctaginaceae)

چکیده

Bougainvillea L. (Nyctaginaceae) is a South American native woody flowering shrub of high ornamental, economic, and medicinal value which susceptible to cold damage. We sequenced the complete chloroplast (cp) genome B. glabra spectabilis, two morphologically similar species differing in resistance. Both genomes showed typical quadripartite structure consisting one large single-copy region, small inverted repeat regions. The cp size spectabilis was 154,520 154,542 bp, respectively, with 131 genes, including 86 protein-coding, 37 transfer RNA, 8 ribosomal RNA genes. In addition, contained 270 271 simple sequence repeats, mononucleotide repeats being most abundant. Eight highly variable sites (psbN, psbJ, rpoA, rpl22, psaI, trnG-UCC, ndhF, ycf1) nucleotide diversity were identified as potential molecular markers. Phylogenetic analysis revealed close relationship between spectabilis. These findings not only contribute understanding mechanism by responds low-temperature stress elucidating evolutionary characteristics phylogenetic relationships among species, but also provide important evidence for accurate identification breeding superior cold-tolerant cultivars.

Synthesis and Cloning of cDNA Encoding an Antiviral Protein from the Leaves of Bougainvillea spectabilis Willd. (Nyctaginaceae)

Total RNA was extracted from the mature leaves of Bougainvillea spectabilis Willd. and messenger RNA (mRNA) was separated out. Using mRNA as template, complementary DNA (cDNA) was synthesized and amplified by Reverse Transcription coupled PCR using gene specific primer. A product of 750 base pair plus was selected based on the size of Bougainvillea antiviral protein (BAP). After elution the pro...

An oxalic acid oxidase in the leaves of Bougainvillea spectabilis.

Oxalic acid undergoes enzymic transformation along diverse channels in cell-free preparations from micro-organisms and plants. In Collyvia veltepes oxalate undergoes a simple decarboxylation (Shimazono, 1955; Shimazono & Hayaishi, 1957), whereas in other micro-organisms the decarboxylation is preceded by the formation of the CoA derivative of oxalate (Jakoby, Ohmura & Hayaishi, 1956; Kimura, Ka...

Antifertility Effect of Bougainvillea spectabilis or Paper Flower

Bougainvillea spectabilis (Family: Nyctaginaceae), commonly referred to as Great Bougainvillea or Paper Flower, is one of the traditional medicinal plants with potential antifertility activity. The aqueous extract and decoction of this plant have been used as fertility control among the tribal people in many countries. Furthermore, it has been shown to possess anticancer, antidiabetic, antihepa...

New Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells Obtained from Extracted Bracts of Bougainvillea Glabra and Spectabilis Betalain Pigments by Different Purification Processes

The performance of a new dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC) based in a natural dye extracted from the Bougainvillea spectabilis' bracts, is reported. The performance of this solar cell was compared with cells prepared using extract of the Bougainvillea glabra and mixture of both extracts; in both cases the pigments were betalains, obtained from Reddish-purple extract. These dyes were purified to ...

Phylogenetic Relationships Within Nyctaginaceae Tribe Nyctagineae: Evidence from Nuclear and Chloroplast Genomes

Nyctaginaceae are a small family of mainly New World tropical and subtropical trees, shrubs, and herbs. To date phylogenetic relationships within the family have not been examined. This study provides the first phylogenetic hypothesis of relationships within Nyctaginaceae tribe Nyctagineae based on sequence data from both nuclear (ITS) and chloroplast (accD 5‘coding region and intergenic region...
